Honda Cars India has revealed the hybrid version of the City, the company’s best-selling mid-size car in India. The all-new Honda City Hybrid e:HEV is the country’s first robust hybrid mass-market vehicle. The new Honda City e:HEV is based on the fifth-generation Honda City, which is now on sale in India. It is comparable to its Thai-spec equivalent. The same is now available for booking. One can book the car online on the company’s official website or by visiting their nearest dealership.
Honda City Hybrid Design and features
The design of the Honda City e: HEV stays true to the current generation model which is was launched in 2020. However, the new City e: HEV gets some subtle changes to differentiate from the ICE sibling which includes – ‘e: HEV’ badging, revised front grille, fog lamp garnish, a new rear diffuser and a boot lid spoiler.
On the inside, the dual-tone theme of the cabin is carried over and gets a one-touch electric sunroof, LED reading lamps, and ambient lighting. The instrument cluster gets a 7-inch full-colour TFT display and now shows hybrid powertrain related stats. in addition, the Honda City e:HEV gets multiple features like Honda Sense Technology, 6-airbags Vehicle Stability assists, Agile Handling Assist and Hill Start assist for safety. Moreover, it gets disc brakes on all four wheels, an electric parking brake and an automatic brake hold. All of this is aided by a lane-keep camera.
Mileage and Engine power
As evident by the name the Honda City comes with a hybrid powertrain. The powertrain gets a new combination of an ICE engine with two electric motors offering three distinct driving modes offering a mileage of 26.5 kmpl. It is to be noted that the battery would be able to charge via brake regeneration and the engine will also charge the battery. The engine would be a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine. It produces 97 bhp of max power and 127 Nm of peak torque.
Honda Sensing technology incorporates high-end ADAS systems to provide a safer drive. Advanced driver-assistance systems are groups of electronic technologies that assist drivers in driving and parking functions. This kind of technology has not yet been introduced in a C-segment sedan, before making the Honda City e: HEV the first in class. A front-mounted wide-angle camera along with a computer brings along a collision mitigation braking system (CMBS), road departure mitigation (RDM), lane keep assist system (LKAS), adaptive cruise control and auto high beam.
